The count-down to Christmas has begun, and the weather seems to have joined in too.

East Hampshire District Council have released an updated map/list of the Land Availability Assessment (LAA) for areas which have the potential to be developed for housing. HERE is a link to the EHDC site.

This is a memo from our local Town Councillor Don Hammond. There is also a link to the briefing document mentioned.

“Residents of Holybourne may live too far away from the pond to be regular visitors but many will still have an interest in the environmental aspects including the impact of the pond on the River Wey.

Leaving aside the Neighbourhood Plan for a moment, The King’s Pond Project is the most significant thing that Alton Town Council (ATC) will undertake in a generation – in terms of public opinion, cost, potential environmental benefit and impact, benefits to current and future generations of residents.  It is important that as many people as possible are involved in discussing the way forward.

ATC has published the briefing document: “Kings Pond – The Next Steps in Deciding the Way Forward”.  You will see that this sets out two options and the information that has led to these.

ATC has arranged three public briefing and discussion sessions:

Tuesday 19th November
Royal British Legion, Anstey Park
Briefing to start at 2:00pm to 4:00pm

Tuesday 26th November
Assembly Rooms, High Street
Briefing to start at 7:30pm to 9:30pm

Tuesday 3rd December
Alton Social Bowls Club, Chawton Park Road
Briefing to start at 2:00pm to 4:00pm

I would be grateful for your help in getting this information out there – making sure that members of HVA have received the briefing document, that they are aware of the public meetings and encouraged to come along.

The next Full Council Meeting on 8th January will have to decide the question “Should we investigate both the Dredging and the Pond & River options in detail?”.  I am sure that there are HVA members will who will have an opinion on this!”
