Treloar’s announces appointment of new Chief Executive Officer, Ryan Campbell CBE

image002.jpgAlistair Mackintosh, Chair of Trustees announced today the appointment of Ryan Campbell CBE to be the new Chief Executive Officer of Treloar’s. This follows a rigorous selection process overseen by a group of Trustees, who are also Governors of the School and College, and supported by Treloar’s Head of HR.
 
Ryan Campbell has worked extensively in the charity sector. Since 2015, Ryan has been the CEO of Demelza Hospice Care for Children, which offers palliative care for children and young people with serious and terminal conditions across South East England.  Prior to this, he was CEO of an organisation providing clinical, mental health and substance misuse services to young people and adults, under contract to Local Authorities and Clinical Commissioning Groups. He has also worked in senior positions for RAPT, a provider of drug and alcohol rehabilitation services in the criminal justice system, and for Age Concern. From 2006-2018 Ryan was a Trustee of Mind, the leading mental health charity, and was their Chair of Trustees from 2012-2018.  In 2018, he was awarded a CBE for services to mental health provision. 
Ryan has commented,
“The Treloar Trust is at the forefront of providing educational and life opportunities for young people with complex disability.  It is a vitally important organisation, not only for the students who attend the school and college or receive support in other ways, but nationally.  Treloar’s shows what can and should be done to enable people with disability to achieve their potential. 
 
As far as I am concerned there is no better job than to lead Treloar’s into its next phase. I look forward to being inspired by the children, young people and young adults, and the amazing staff, volunteers and supporters who work alongside them”

“As CEO, Ryan will have overall responsibility for all the activities of the Trust and the School and College and for taking forward the implementation and delivery of our new ten year strategy.  We look forward very much to welcoming Ryan as CEO and I know that he is looking forward to meeting everyone involved with Treloar’s.”
 
Ryan will take up post on the 7th of June 2021.

Alan Titchmarsh MBE VMH DL launches virtual fundraiser Walk for Treloar’s

Join Alan Titchmarsh MBE VMH DL and Walk for Treloar’s this Easter whilst raising money to support our young people.

Walk for Treloar’s is set to take place across the Easter weekend – Friday 2nd April to Monday 5th April – and will see those taking part getting their walking shoes on and completing a distance of either 4 miles or 8 miles, however, this could also be a chosen distance in your local area.

Alan Titchmarsh MBE VMH DL, Treloar’s Patron, broadcaster, TV presenter, poet, novelist and gardener is proud to be launching this virtual event to raise much needed funds for the charity.

“You never walk alone when you walk for Treloar’s” says Alan, something we are delighted to agree with thanks to the generosity of local companies Fyffes, Newbury Building Society and ILS, who are kindly sponsoring this event.

Former Treloar Trust Chairman, Bruce Powell, has been awarded the MBE for services to Education in the New Year’s Honours list

Bruce Powell has a long family association with Treloar’s and was a key figurehead who steered the School and College through a significant period of change. He served as Chair of Trustees from 2002-2015, and is currently a Patron of the Treloar Trust.

 

One of his many achievements was the Vision Treloar’s appeal, launched to build a new campus enabling the co-location of the Trust, School and College on a single site in Holybourne. Building work on the new campus was completed in 2011.

 

School students moved from Froyle to the Holybourne campus in 2012. The new campus was officially opened by our Royal Patron, HRH Countess of Wessex GCVO.

 

During his tenure he oversaw major construction and refurbishment projects which enhanced the Treloar College facilities. Brewer House, a new hall of residence and a student social club the ‘Chill Out Zone’ opened in 2008. The Princess Royal officially opened Brewer House in 2009.

 

When Bruce retired, his legacy was to leave Treloar’s with modern, well equipped facilities and a vibrant School and College campus.

Mr Powell retired as Treloar Trust Chairman in 2015.  He trained as a chartered accountant and had many years’ experience of financial and operational management with information technology (IT) companies listed on the London Stockmarket. He is a member of the Court of Assistants of the Haberdashers’ Livery Company and is currently Chairman of Governors at Holyport College. Bruce is married to Lizzie with 3 daughters and a son, and lives in Bentley.
